We Are A Secure Site.
Q:
Can I speed up your site? It takes time to load?
A. Our
web site is built with speed in mind and we have reduced
the size of our photos so that they load faster and look
good. But, your experience is also determined also by
your modem speed AND current traffic on the web. If you
are an AOL user, you may notice that their system slows
down during peak hours every day.
Q: How can I change the quantity of my ordered items. One
item was ordered twice when I only wanted one.
This
could be related to the last problem. Usually customers
hit the ADD button twice because they think it hasn't
worked the first time. If you do get double orders simply
correct them when you view your cart.
Q: Is it safe to send my credit card number over the internet?
A. We
have a secure site which stores your credit card on our
server in a encryption code. This means that your vital
information comes to us heavily coded and virtually unbreakable.
Also, our system does not allow credit card information
to be sent via e-mail thus it can't be stolen by someone
reading your email. It is only stored on our server and
is deleted from our server when the order is filled. We
utilize GeoTrust as our SSL provider. You know a site
is secure when you see this icon >>
<< in the browser window during checkout.
Q:
I still have a question. How can I contact you further?
Send
us a note by email. We answer all of our email faithfully,
except during the holidays when our office is closed.
You may be surprised at the questions we get. Around Chinese
New Year we always get requests for red envelopes (for
money gifts). We don't sell them. We don't sell food items
either, but we do know how to find a lot of stuff that's
Japanese related. We also welcome phone calls and orders
by phone. Our contact information is at the bottom of
this page.
Q: I'm looking for more Japanese fabric?
A. We
don't carry everything. In fact, we carry only some colors
of an entire line. We like some colors better than others.
Japanese Fabric goes out of date rather quickly. Some are gone within
a couple of months. Most are gone within 6-9 months. Japanese Fabric
you bought last year and need more of will probably be
unavailable. Fabric you saw in a quilt and want to get
is unavailable.
Japanese Fabric
is expensive. Fabrics come in differing qualities. The
best is used by quilters and sold in really nice quilt
shops and sites like ours. Manufacturers often make a
lesser grade for the chain fabric stores. Also there are
some countries copying high quality Japanese fabrics and selling
them in the US. These are called "knock-offs". Our manufacturers
try to stay ahead of these thieves by producing new designs
in rapid-fire order.
Q: Are the fabrics made in the USA?
About
75-80% of the high quality fabrics sold in the US are
printed in Japan. The US has heavy quota and duty restrictions
concerning cotton. Unprinted cotton is shipped by US fabric
manufacturers to Japan where it is printed and reshipped
back to the US. The Japanese cannot buy these fabrics
because of their government restrictions. Some of our
fabrics are printed in Korea and a very few are printed
elsewhere (China, Brazil, even the US). Japan has the
expertise and equipment to produce the finest printed
fabrics in the world. We lost that race long ago. There
are few US printers capable of printing the fabrics you
love. The US still prints calicos and other simple goods
and a few more complex ones. Some of our fabrics are imported,
mostly from Japan, but some from China. All are marked
on our site.
